dublin hurlers at camp
Dublin hurlers Liam Rushe and Alan Nolan dropped in on county team mate Liam Ryan in Clonliffe College yesterday to ensure that everything was in tip top shape at a very special GAA VHI Cúl Camp.
Ryan is co-ordinator of the closest Cúl Camp to Croke Park and the stadium has offered a special helping hand to the week-long activity by subsidising the event in an effort to attract as many young girls and boys as possible.
More than 150 local children, drawn from the immediate Croke Park area and notified through their schools, have been involved in the camp where qualified coaches have helped them work on their skills since last Monday.
Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Criostóir Ó Cuana also dropped in to pay a visit and he was accompanied by former Dublin football manager Paul Caffrey.
More than 80,000 children attended camps in 2010 and this year is expected to set a new record for the number of camps being held not only throughout Ireland, but overseas too.
However, none will be closer to GAA Headquarters as the competing boys and girls were put through their paces in the shadow of the Croke Park stands in the heart of Dublin 3 just off Clonliffe Road.
